The Issues
Eight priorities for the Davie we know and love.
01
Transparency
Communication and Development
Residents have attended the council meetings and public comment for developments, the council approved the projects anyway. That's not representation. As mayor, I will increase communication to our residents and put fourth a written response from the town before any vote.
That’s not representation.
02
Integrity
Term Limits. Protecting our elected seats for the future of Davie is vital, as we’ve seen what it’s led to without these protections. As your mayor, I will swiftly propose an amendment to our charter to include term limits for both the seat of mayor and our district council.
Term Limits.
03
Housing Affordability
What’s being built in Davie isn’t for the people who live here. The working class, teachers, nurses, and students, can’t afford what’s going up. We cannot continue to allow our generational Davie families and farmers to be pushed out of their homes. As your mayor, I will tie CRA incentives to verified workforce housing commitments. Not promises. Requirements.
Not promises. Requirements.
04
Preservation
We’ve been told time and time again that the loss of our green spaces is outside of the control of the town, yet the public records show otherwise. As mayor, I will work to provide more protections and support for our open land, our quiet communities, our equestrian trails, and increase our park count, to keep us from becoming like every other city in South Florida and keep Davie, Davie.
Keep Davie, Davie.
05
Infrastructure
Our roads should not be well-known for their deterioration and potholes nicknamed by both residents and visitors. We shouldn't have bottleneck intersections in a “town”. Re-prioritizing our neglected roadways and flooding issues before allowing further development is essential. Being proactive, not reactive.
Being proactive, not reactive.
06
Community
Davie has lost its sense of community and culture. Instead of increasing housing options solely, I will push forward for more efforts for our current residents and families; with initiatives such as opening our first Davie farmers market, dedicating green spaces for community gardens, and refreshing our Town events to make sure they’re what Davie residents want to attend.
Davie has lost its sense of community and culture.
07
Conservation
Enhancing agricultural productivity, our water quality, and managing our water effectively means addressing our current issues at hand. Every new project adds pavement, not capacity. We need to take a deeper look at our stormwater assessment and I will publish the results publicly.
Every new project adds pavement, not capacity.
08
Taxes
Our millage rate hasn't budged in over 5 years, plain and simple. Our property taxes are nearly 30% higher than the national median and almost 20% over the state median. Re-evaluating and addressing our budget with audits and independent accounting firms can allow us to save money for our current and future home owners while assuring we're fiscally responsible.
Plain and simple.
